Prefer to travel to Ameland the fast way? Fast ferry m.s. Fostaborg operates a daily fast ferry schedule between Holwert (Holwerd) and Ameland. Please check the departure schedule and make timely reservations!
Fast ferry m.s. Fostaborg
The crossing time of the m.s. Fostaborg is approximately twenty minutes. From Leeuwarden you will be able to take the 166 bus service which connects to the fast ferry in Holwert (Holwerd). As a result travellers can complete the journey from Ameland to Leeuwarden (or vice versa) in 1 hour.
Good to know:
Wagenborg Passenger Services charges an additional fee for the m.s. Fostaborg. This is charged in addition to the return ticket for the regular ferry. In 2024 the fee is € 8,65.
Passengers always need to reserve online. if you omit this step and the fast ferry is full, you will not be entitled to a seat even if you still have credits on your balance. Upon booking and payment of the online ticket, passengers will get a QR code, which allows the crew to validate the ticket.
The meeting point for passengers from Ameland can be found at the east side of the terminal and in Holwerd at the west side of the terminal. The crew will guide the passengers to and from the docking place of the m.s. Fostaborg.
