Corn and oil mill De Phenix
In 2018 and 2019, mill de Phenix in Nes was given a substantial overhaul by 'De Molenmakers' of construction company Hiemstra from Tzummarrum.
The mill was thoroughly restored and then thatcher Kleinjan from Den Ham fitted the hull and cap with a new thatch.
The second phase of the mill's revitalisation was the construction of an underground visitor centre on the east side of the mill under the Mullesduun. An oil sluice was installed in this underground section by the Mill Makers. Oil has been struck at Wheat and Oil Mill the Phenix since early 2022.
The mill shop is open Monday to Saturday from 13:00 - 17:00
The oil milling shop operates several times a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays when there is sufficient wind).
