In 2025, Expeditie Ameland celebrates its anniversary edition with the theme "Good Neighbours, Distant Friends".
This international and multilingual storytelling festival focuses on the countries around the North Sea, once connected through Doggerland. As sea levels rose, this connection changed – how do we relate to each other today?
From 13 to 16 November 2025, workshops and evening performances will take place, with Sier aan Zee as the main venue. During the day, workshops are available for participants, while in the evening, there is an open programme with performances.
The festival originated from Expeditie Ameland 2018, when Ameland participated in Leeuwarden-Fryslân Cultural Capital, and has been organised by Stichting Verhalenderwijs and Ameland Vertel! since 2021.
